Cultural Day at Pinehill School was AMAZING!  

We started they day wearing our cultural costumes...
Then two parents came in and read some stories from different cultures.

Then is was time for the parade and shared lunch...

ESOL Birds

Today we made some birds with Mrs Howard.

Music

This term in music we have made musical instruments out of old containers, gladwrap rolls and bottles.  First we put rice or macaroni pasta inside the container.  Then we put paper mache on the outside of containers and painted it when they were dry.  Here is a little video of us playing along to a song using our instruments.

ShowMe allows you to record voice-over whiteboard tutorials and share them online. It’s a radically intuitive app that anyone will find extremely easy to use, regardless of age or background.

Year 2 Millennium Trip

TRIP DAY REMINDER

Tomorrow is our Year 2 trip day to the Millennium. Here are a few things to remember... 

 - Wear mufti clothes to school - Sports shoes(sneakers), T.Shirt, Jumper and shorts or leggings. 
- Bring your morning tea and lunch and your drink bottle 
- Bring your named togs and towel in a named plastic bag. (Put this inside your school bag) 
- Each child will take their school bag with them on the trip.

Some of our Apps

I have had some parents asking me what Apps we have been using in the classroom.  I thought that I could list Apps here on our blog as a reference point.  So lets start with... 

Literacy Apps

We use this MeeGenius App everyday as part of our Daily 5 Reading programme.  The children can pick a story and listen to it while reading along or choose to read it themselves.  You can get a few books Free or pay to get extra books. 

Sock Puppets lets you create your own lip-synched videos. Add Puppets, props, scenery, and backgrounds and start creating. Hit the record button and the puppets automatically lip-synch to your voice.

Word Bingo is a great for spelling and sight word practice.

Lights, Camera, Play! Toontastic is a Creative Learning tool that empowers kids to draw, animate, and share their own cartoons through imaginative play. Have a go, make up a story with your child.

Super Proud

Room 11 were busy today in ICT sharing their wikis with each other. Before I knew it I was amazed to see that  suddenly I had experts in the class sharing there knowledge with others. Fantastic and So Proud!!

Cross Country Race Day

Congratulations to all the children in Room 11.  You ALL gave 100% effort to the cross country race this week.  Well done to MH 1st year 2 boys.  SH 2nd year 2 girls and BP 3rd year 2 girls.  You are all Pinehill Superstars.

Year 2 Speech Finals

Congratulations to KH, MH and MC for getting through to our Year 2 speech finals.  You all did a fantastic job.  Well done to KH for winning 2nd place.

Leaf Rubbings

As part of our Art this term, we have been looking at Autumn leaves.  We went outside and sketched some trees that were losing leaves.  Then we collected some leaves and took them inside and did some Leaf Rubbings.
